The Jack It Series - A Special Edition At Urbanscapes House

 

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 October 2018 – After a two year run of open mics, Jack It will be presenting a special edition performance showcasing local music and poetry as part of The Jack It! Series (TJIS) at Urbanscapes House this year.

 

This showcase by Jack It is all set to reflect the heart and grit of Urbanscapes, one of Malaysia’s longest-running creative arts festival. According to Dhabitah Zainal, one of Jack It’s founding member, this special edition "is possibly Jack It's biggest show to date”. The show will be held on 15 November 2018 and will feature four bands and three poets of various genres.

 

Among them are the rising stars of the local indie music scene - Shuuna, Mafidz, Radiowave and Ian F. & Court 10. It will be an evening of indie-electronic-nusantara sounds, with some rock, folk and indie-pop beats thrown into the mix.

 

For those who love spoken word, the night will also include three of Malaysia’s top poets, Umar Abdul Aziz, Muhammad Zhafir and Kimchi Lai. Each of them bring their own unique style of expression, from Umar’s lute and tin whistles accompaniment to Zhafir’s rap poetry, it will be a night of wholesome performances.

 

Jack It was born out of the idea of being a platform for anyone whether they are poets, singers, rappers or comics to perform their craft. Describing themselves as an “open mic for the ruthless, for the passionate, for the overdriven performers looking for a fix of the stage,” Jack It also caters to the lepak (chill) crowd in celebrating these same performers.
